Limestone with bryozoans.
Biogenous sedimentary rock.
This fossiliferous limestone displays an abundance branching bryozoan colonies or fragments of branching bryozoans. Bryozoa (also known moss animals) are relatively tiny, aquatic invertebrates (animals) that grow together in sedentary colonies. These had calcareous exoskeleton that grew together in twig-like branches. This sample is from the Late Ordovician Whitewater Formation in Cincinnati, Ohio. |
